Anne Kirrin is the youngest of the Famous Five. She is the sister of Julian and Dick, and cousin to George. She is 10 at the start of the series. She is the most feminine, enjoying things such as dolls and dresses, and is very organised and tidy.
Biography[]
Anne Kirrin lives with her parents and elder brothers Julian and Dick in London. She used to go on holidays with her family to Polseath. She always loved playing with dolls, and had a rocking-horse.[1]
She first met her cousin George when she was 10 and spent her summer holiday with her brothers at their aunt and uncle's cottage in Kirrin. After their adventure, she became one of the Famous Five.
Anne was joined by George at Gaylands School, where they both boarded. She did well academically compared to the others in the Winter term in Five Go Adventuring Again.[2]
Eventually she became Captain of Games at school, as well as top of her form.[3]
Personality[]
Unlike her cousin George, Anne generally acts more girly and takes care of the domestic duties during the Five's various camping holidays. As the youngest, she is more likely than the others to be frightened, and does not enjoy the adventures as much as the others.[4] However, she does like activities such as swimming and climbing.[1]
She likes doing the domestic things such as planning, Organising and preparing meals, and keeping where they are staying clean and tidy, be it a cave, house, tent or caravan. She loves dolls and pretty frocks, and likes painting.[5]
In Smuggler's Top it is suggested she is claustrophobic, as she is frightened of enclosed spaces, which remind her of bad dreams. But the adventures invariably lead the five into tunnels, down wells, and into dungeons and other enclosed spaces, demonstrating how brave she really is.
Appearance[]
Anne is the smallest of the Famous Five, although she apparently grows considerably taller between books.[6] She has straight hair that does not quite reach her shoulders.[7] She often wears jeans or shorts like the others do.[1]
